We are celebrating 20 years and opening one of the largest freezer storage facilities in the country

With the symbolic delivery of the first pallet, MD logistika launched the operation of the new C10 freezer storage facility at its site in Dašice. “This represents an expansion of our storage capacity for frozen goods by around one fifth. We decided in favour of this investment of over CZK 75 million because of the continued demand from customers for quality storage sites, something especially true for frozen goods. We therefore already have signed contracts with both existing and new customers for the new building,” says MD logistika CEO Robert Kuchar, adding, “This is thus the first important “gift” for the twentieth anniversary of our company.”
The C10 freezer storage facility offers 3,692 pallet positions in an area of 1,778 m2 in its basic layout at a standard temperature of -24°C. Thanks to its internal space of 33,900 m3, the warehouse can hold around 112 full truckloads of goods. The general designer was CODE, the construction was carried out by MARHOLD, and the refrigeration technology was supplied by Syteza.
The building is immediately adjacent to the formerly newest C9 freezer storage facility put into operation in 2017, and is of a similar size. “The building layout is similar to that of the C9, and together they create one of the largest undivided freezer storage facilities in the Czech Republic. The vertical clearance allows five pallet shelves to be stacked on top of each other, making it as efficient as possible,” says Milan Stránský, MD logistika technical director. The layout of the warehouse without a single internal column enables it to be completely filled by shelving, and also offers the greatest possible layout variability. The use of energy-saving LED lighting, which emits hardly any heat in the cooled space, is a matter of course. The cooling is also maximally efficient – the new facility uses the existing cooling machine room with a JEAGGI hybrid ammonia vapour condenser combining dry and wet condensation. Waste heat from the cooling machine room is used to heat the seamless floor, thus protecting it from cracking. The building façade is sheathed with white trapezoidal sheeting and its eastern wall, facing outwards from the MD logistika site, will be covered with greenery.
In addition to the usual handling equipment customised for operation in extremely low temperatures, in the warehouse we will also deploy a battery-powered Toyota order picker vehicle with an operator platform allowing the operator to be lifted to pick goods at heights of up to 4.5 m. This equipment will significantly accelerate the dispatch of goods.
This investment project is not the only one we are currently preparing in Dašice – the construction of the S2 dry warehouse with a capacity of 40,000 pallet positions is also in the project preparation phase.
The location of the new MD logistika warehousing capacities in Dašice in eastern Bohemia is ideal for the quick servicing of the Czech and Slovak markets and the whole of the Central Europe region. The Opatovice nad Labem – Časy section of the D35 motorway was opened in 2021, while the linking Časy – Ostrov section with the Dašice exit is to be put into operation this year. “This will give us a fast connection to the motorway network, further strengthening Dašice’s strategic position in approximately the centre of the former Czechoslovakia. This will enable us to effectively distribute chilled and frozen goods for our clients, for whom time and the maintenance of the temperature regime are key service quality parameters,” explains Kateřina Kačírková, MD logistika sales manager.
